Feature Race:
Luiz Razia P2
Alexander Rossi P13
Alexander Rossi moved up to tenth place in the opening laps of the race from fourteenth on the grid. Tyre degradation pushed the team into an early pit stop on lap eight and thereafter his pace was good amongst the mid-field cars, finally bringing the car home safely in thirteenth place.
Team Manager Phill Spencer: “I am so pleased for Luiz and all the team to record a second place podium here – it’s just a great feeling for the whole team! I am a little disappointed for Alexander but I think he has learnt a lot today and I hope he enjoyed the race nonetheless. He has shown he’s a got lot of...

Technical issues in the earlier practice session saw Alexander Rossi lose valuable time on track ahead of the qualifying session and with 18 cars covered by just one second competition is as fierce as ever. Traffic caused more delays for Rossi before he set his quickest sector times just as a red flag hindered his fastest lap. With just 3 ½ minutes to go he unfortunately ran out of time to improve his lap time and will start from fifteenth on the grid for Saturday's race.
Team Manager Phill Spencer ″We qualified P4 and P15 so I have mixed feelings about the session. We had a slight problem with the throttle on Alexander's cars this morning which we fixed in time for qualifying but unfortunately he lost some track time. Both...

The last FIA Institute YDEA workshop in Teesdorf, Austria was this past week. It was one of the most eye-opening we’ve had to date and fitting as it not only brought a close to the inaugural year of the academy, but it also certified all participants as an FIA “Road Safety Trainers.”
Watching and learning about the dangers of driving on the road and the many common mistakes that are made daily by all of us was good to learn from this perspective. It motivated me to make a difference as a driver in motorsport to encourage safe driving and better education for young drivers on the road.
I am very thankful to everyone at the FIA Institute as they have entrusted me to be an ambassador for the sport and safety. I would...

Caterham Team AirAsia concluded testing with a positive performance from American driver Alexander Rossi to finish P2 in Barcelona this afternoon.
The team worked closely with both Alexander and Rodolfo Gonzalez on set up this morning whilst the track dried following overnight rain. Alexander provided the team with lots of good feedback, happy with his car he finished the early session eighth after traffic held up his new tyre runs. A determined final session this afternoon proved what the American is capable of. With some long race simulation runs he made an impressive lap early on to sit P1 for the majority of the session. His lap time was only squeezed off the top spot in the latter stages of the day by Stefano Coletti to mark the...

My dear friends,
I write this blog with a heavy heart as I head to Barcelona, as motorsport has lost a champion and I have lost a fellow racer and someone that I deeply admired and looked up to. Dan Wheldon was an inspiration to many on and off track and while he passed on doing what he loved, one can’t help but feel a sense of apprehension about this sport that we have all come to know and cherish. The past twenty-four hours have been a true eye-opener for me as the realization that motorsport is still dangerous and the drivers are not invincible becomes clear in the most tragic of circumstances. As we continue to push forward chasing perfection and continually finding the limits of speed and performance, the memory of Dan and...

Alexander Rossi has won the 2011 World Series by Renault - FR 3.5 series Rookie Championship and secured third place in the Drivers’ Championship at the season finale in Barcelona, Spain today. His team, Fortec Motorsports, took 2nd place in the Constructors’ Championship.
At the Circuit de Catalunya this morning Alexander was running in the top four for most of the second qualifying session. Only one second separated the top 12 runners, making for a potentially mixed front end of the grid. With such close fastest lap times and some brake issues which carried over from yesterday, Rossi qualified in P7 for the final race of the season.
No one could have predicted the eventful first lap of the race this afternoon! An...
