The Formula Renault 3.5 Series moved to Paul Ricard in France this weekend for round eight, the penultimate weekend of the 2012 championship. Alexander Rossi was in action today with the Arden Caterham team, returning to the circuit on which he scored a race win and set a new lap record in the series last year for two free practice sessions.

Drivers headed out on Friday morning for the first of the weekend’s running in first practice. Alexander was immediately on the pace, setting the third fastest time. In a strong session during which he completed 15 laps of testing, he set his fastest lap in the dying moments to finish third fastest.

In the afternoon’s second practice, Alex flew to the top of the timesheets ten minutes into the session. He improved on his time several times throughout and hit the top spot again ten minutes from the end. He was shuffled down to second when Magnussen set the fastest time two minutes later, and finished the session second quickest.
